On a steam powered ship, that overboard discharge water could be from the condenser that changes waste steam back to condensate for boiler feedwater.

They are the vessels cooling water overboard discharges.

At the stern of the Stewart J. Cort there are two water outlets that seem to be constantly discharging water while the ship moving. Are these to cool the engine? I have also seen similar discharges on steamers. Just wondering what their purpose is.
