Her AIS is now showing Calcite.

No the H. Lee White did not haul or carry a backhaul cargo when they went to Quebec the first time earlier this year. Hope that this information helps.

The Port Reports for 9/29 has American Mariner arriving in Conneaut from Buffalo. Are they loading pellets for QC delivery?

She unloaded wheat in Buffalo from Superior. This would be her 3rd pellet load from Conneaut down the Seaway this season.

Thanks garbear, I thought they had. There must be good profit in it to tie up one of their Buffalo wheat boats and most likely no back haul from QC.

Checked my 2019-2020 log book and both the CSL Niagara and the Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin loaded 3 times each in Silver Bay and the Whitefish Bay loaded once. All for Quebec City.

If I'm not mistaken and I hope not, I believe this could be the first load this season out of Silver Bay for Quebec? With the ore from Two Harbors being shipped down to Conneaut and then also being reloaded onto Canadian lakers for the trip to Quebec I have a few questions on this trade. With the CSL Assinbioine loading now from Silver Bay to Quebec one of my questions is "Could they just load ore at Silver Bay with the footers and then have then bring that ore down to Conneaut and then reload it onto a Canadian ship to take to Quebec?" Okay I not into the basics and details like you all are on the type of ore they use as I know its different type of ore they use no doubt from Silver Bay and Two Harbors but, just me but I'm thinking why not just load the ore into a footer at Silver Bay and then have it deliver to Conneaut and then reload into a Canadian ship for the trip to Quebec? Again just my two cents only on

I had posted about her being the first Canadian boat to load in Silver Bay in my Port Report. Probably different ore. Two Harbors it's Minntac that goes to Conneaut and Silver Bay would be Northshore pellets.

This possibly could indicate a new market for Northshore Pellets. There is no end user in QC so this must be a load destined for transhipment overseas.
Worldwide iron ore prices remain at a 5 yr high and maybe we will see more of these runs.

I'd have to check my log book from last year, but probably only 6-7 loads from Silver Bay to QC. I'll post tomorrow.

Thanks for the update garbear. With the numbers I've crunched concerning the boats unloading in Conneaut it would seem that the majority of pellets being delivered are being reloaded into the boats going to QC.

Those are boats that would have loaded in Two Harbors instead of Conneaut. I've only got 6 boats to load in Two Harbors for Quebec City. They've had boats for the Soo, Nanticoke, and Hamilton, but that's it for QC.

Add into the mix that CSL Assiniboine just loaded in Silver Bay for QC.

Might be off by 1 or 2, but Conneaut will see it's 64th boat to load for Quebec City. The Algoma Transport is currently in the Seaway heading for Conneaut.
