I've seen several references to the Frontenac being on Lake Superior as well, though I've never been able to figure out whether it was the Cleveland Cliffs or CSL Frontenac.

The Hilda Marjanne did leave anchorage in Whitefish Bay but found the conditions far too severe and returned to the bay after a half-hour.

Believe the RR ferry INCAN SUPERIOR was downbound on her regular route between Thunder Bay Ont. - Superior, WI. as well.

Here’s a few that I can recall.

The three main Salties that were upbound that night

Avafors
Benfri
Nanfri

Behind the Fitz and the Anderson of course were the Wilfred Sykes along with the Roger Blough. Those two went and anchored for awhile up in Thunder Bay, Ontario and later they left the anchorage and later followed the Fitz and the Anderson down the lake. Also the William Clay Ford was upbound as well that night. The Ford and the Anderson searched all night of the 10th and into the next day for survivors of the Fitz. I recall reading that the William R. Roesch was also up there that night and I think they found either a lifeboat or part of one from the Fitz? There was I think the Armco up there that night? I also know the Philip R. Clarke I think was one of if not the last vessel to lock through the Soo Locks just before they closed down the locks due to the intensity of the Fitzgerald’s storm that night. Another I think was the Hilda Marjanne? The USCG asked them that night if they could go out into the storm and look for any survivors from the Fitz. They told the CG “No” that they could not do it and would not take the risk and chance of sinking or capsizing and they would stay at anchor instead! I think maybe the Fort Henry or one of the older CSL package freighters was also there? I’m sure someone else will know and have a full list of the ships and vessels that were there that night. Also the USCGC Woodrush left Duluth the night of the 10th and sailed across Lake Superior enroute to the last known position and sinking sight of the Fitz looking for survivors. Hope that all of this info helps you out.

Armco was south of Isle Royale at the time the Fitzgerald sank. I know Roger Blough was out on the lake that night, but I don't have a position for her when the Fitz was lost.

Can't forget the three saltwater vessels that were in the general area during the sinking. Avafors, Benfri and Nanfri.

Several vessels in the early afternoon passed the Fitz and were either at anchor or docked in the area of Thunderbay; Tadoussac, Simcoe and Charles M. Beeghly when the Fitzgerald sank

Does anyone know the names of all the vessels that were on Lake Superior the night of Nov 10 1975? History focuses on the Fitz and the Anderson, but there were more I'm sure.
