The Algoluna is replacing the Algosea, which is being retired this month. So that may be the reason that she's going overseas for rebuilding.... Will see.

Algoma Central noted the retirement of the Algosea in their 2023 Q3 Press release.

Isn't the Algosea a tanker? Interesting.

I can't find anything on-line about Algosea being rebuilt as a self-inloader.

The Algosea, built in 1998, has reached the age where charterers don't want to charter tankers that old.

So it would make sense for Algoma Central to have the Algosea rebuilt into a self-unloader - witness Lower Lakes' Manitoulin. Time will tell if she's being rebuilt or overhaul.

The Algosea is a tanker so you must have your boats mixed up.

Algosea to become a self unloader

Saw on a Facebook page a member posted a photo of Algosea and mentioned she's heading overseas soon and will return as a self unloader. Has anyone heard anything about this?
