Great Lakes Fleet has two female chief engineers. One is permanent chief on the Clarke and the other one is relief chief on the Munson. They are both pretty young as well, I would have to say in their 30's.

Read some interesting articles a few years back about these female captains and the vessels they piloted: Captain Charlene Munden/Tim S Dool; Captain Marie-Claire Dusseault/ Paul A Desgagnes; Captain Lori Reinhart/MV Buffalo

The CSL St-Laurent had a female captain I believe during the 2022 shipping season I had thought I read once? She could have been one of their mates possibly? There’s been lots of I think female mates onboard ships these days. I’m hearing more female voices at times on my Marine Radio Scanner reporting into Sarnia Traffic on the St. Clair River. At one time there was once a female captain in the former Paterson fleet. Her name was Lillian Kluka I think is how it is spelled? She was a captain for many years and seasons with the Paterson fleet. Hope this helps with what you’re looking for.

Hello all. I was just curious with the changing times if there are more female captains/engineers on the lakes these days?
