I believe she was built at Russel brothers in Owen sound in 1960 as Ville Marie and was the largest vessel built on the ways at Russels. I'm sure there are boat nerds who can correct me. When the were giving out brains I thought they said trains and asked for an empty box car!
Wow, you're good!
Ville Marie was a survey ship built by Russel-Hipwell at Owen Sound and was the largest vessel they had built at the time. It was launched August 26, 1959, handed over to the Department of Transportation on May 31, 1960, and arrived at her home port of Sorell, August 3, 1960.
