From my understanding of the situation, replacing a propeller blade is, generally speaking, not a big job as compared to other issues. The issue in my mind is whether the drive shaft assembly has been damaged. When you throw a blade, the drive shaft system is thrown off balance. It never happened when I sailed the Ashland, however, I would imagine that there would be a lot banging and pounding going on! Do I think Algoma will bring out a laid up boat to replace the Intrepid? Overall, I doubt it. Unless, of course, there's major drive shaft damage to repair.
Finally, the tug Wyatt M is standing by the Intrepid late Monday afternoon. The Welland from Sarnia looks like it's enroute to the Intrepid. My guess is the Intrepid may be towed down to Sarnia for repairs. Perhaps drive shaft damage is minimal. Hope so.
