I stand corrected. I zoomed in on the original digital photo, and now I clearly see 'Maumee' on the bow.

For some reason, I thought I clearly saw 'Calumet' as I was sailing yesterday - must have been an optical illusion.

You saw the Maumee, the former long time sister ship of the Calumet. Both were built in 1929. Only the Maumee remains in service after 81 years, whereas the Calumet you refer to was scrapped in 2008. The present Calumet is a different ship. The Maumee was the former William G. Clyde, and Calcite II. The scrapped Calumet was the former Myron C. Taylor.

Apparently, my photo didn't upload, so here's the link and maybe an embedded photo.

Took photo of Calumet today, but which one?

I took a photo of an old-timer today (see attached photo).

The name on the side of the ship is "Calumet", but I thought the 1929 ship was scrapped?

So which Calumet did I see?
