No one lives there but the grass airstrip on the island is open and maintained by a group of dedicated volunteers. Camping is allowed on the airport property and it sees regular use during the summer months.

Some people from Charlevoix Michigan in the 70s and 80s did building and motor repair work there. They also were allowed to hunt the deer that were on the island. It was owned then by some one from down state Michigan

North Fox Island is now entirely owned by the state of Michigan. It was sold to the state in the late 90s.

No one lives there. It has a sinister past, being used as a secluded place to sexually abuse boys back in the 1960s-1970s.
