Seem to recall one those so-called River Class ships (Roesch or Thayer) being almost lost in a grounding accident one time back in the 1970s. I don't know if this is the same incident that I seem to recall but then again my memory may be somewhat hazy on what really happened back then.

Today’s 12/10 history section has Columbia Transportation ( Pringle Transist) m/v PAUL THAYER running hard aground off Pelee Island exactly 1 month after the fateful FITZGERALD incident. Not a good month for the company. An attempt to lighter into the WOLVERINE but sea conditions did not allow for it. Ended up dumping nearly all of No.1 hold right overboard.
