The faster multi-spout elevators like Peavey, CHS, and General Mills S can load smaller salties (most BBC, Beluga, Wagenborg, and Intersee ships) in one 8 hour working day. The larger salties (like Fednav, Canfornav, and Polsteam's 600' - 656' ships) usually take one and a half to two working days. The Frontenac can carry about as much grain as a 580' - 600' oceangoing bulker so her loading time would be similar. Canadian straight-deck bulkers typically take two to two-and-a-half working days. How the working hours necessary to load a ship actually end up playing out across real time can vary for a number of reasons including wet weather, weekends and holidays, whether someone is willing to pay overtime to load in the evening or on weekends/holidays, and whether there are any setbacks in the delivery, handling, and inspection of grain before it's loaded aboard.

How long is the average time it takes for a laker to load grain in Superior? I see the salties taking days. Frontenac is due end of next week as of today. Thanks.
