Imperial Cornwall
It was great to open up Boatnerd on Tuesday, Feb.11 to find a heartwarming picture that brought memories back....
Front page photo was an elevated shot of Imperial Cornwall underway. Imperial Oil in Canada /Esso in USA had a fleet on the lakes of roughly a dozen tankers. Sarnia was home base. I had the pleasure of serving on fleet mate Imperial Collingwood for 2 summers in the waning years of the 1960’s as an Oiler.
The main thing that jumps out at me from the photo is the functional simplicity of it all. Easy to operate, reliable and perfectly suited to popping in and out of small ports around the lakes.
