All,
Had a bit of a breakthrough. It appears that one of the boats was the Henry Phipps and the other was the George W. Perkins.
Is there lists of crew members on ships anywhere?
And if you have a merchant marine number, can you look up any more information about a sailor's service?
Thanks,
Don

Dear BoatNerds,
Apologies upfront as I am brand new to this discussion board, and brand new to discussing any topics I see being discussed by others. So your patience is appreciated.
My father (deceased) and my uncle (deceased) sailed on the Great Lakes Lower Lakers in the early 1950's. Most certainly in 1953, but also possibly in 1952 or 1954. From what I recall from family accounts, they sailed between Duluth and Ohio on boats hauling iron ore/taconite.
Anyway, what I am trying to get information about, is if there are any records available that would tell me what boats they sailed on. And what would my best approach be to find out that information.
Their names are:
Donald Francis Richmond
Harvey Richmond
Both were from Onekama, MI
Thanks for any guidance in finding out the boats that they sailed on.
Don
P.S. I have no information about what union(s) they were members of.
