Saw them downbound on the St. Clair River on September 29 with stone for both Sombra and Sarnia, Ontario. She still looks great IMO at least anyway for right now. Even the stack with the Algoma colors and the Algoma Bear on it didn’t look bad! While I’ve seen the new acquisitions all 3 from Algoma the Saginaw, Kaministiqua and the Robert S. Pierson on the St. Clair River with the new Algoma stack, colors and bear logo I need to see the Robert S. Pierson still this year on the river. Back in the Spring of this year, I got her while she unloaded stone in Marysville and all I could get then was just the bow from a distance as she unloaded. Hope I get to see the Pierson, Saginaw and Kaministiqua a few more times this year. Does anyone know if Algoma then will paint the Saginaw, Kaministiqua and Robert S. Pierson in the Algoma blue this Winter? I would think those three would really look sharp with the Algoma blue hull colors. Wonder too if Algoma would rename any of them?

Wind on the stb side is my guess. Alpena channel is 1.2 nm to good water. It is a fair weather port with no room for error.

My guess is it's waiting on weather. The wind has been ripping out of the northeast here the past 3 days. Because of silt build up at the mouth of the river, ships have to go without ballast and be pulled in by a tug.

They’re so high up the prop and rudders aren’t effective, and being towed, the wind would probably push them right into the breakwater. It’s nice to have her for a fixture here for a few days, Algoma Buffalo usually makes this run.

But again, just a guess.

I was wondering as to why the Saginaw has been laying in Alpena Mi for two days since it discharged a load of salt ??
