Tony, the Great Lakes Navigation Season normally extends from March 17-20 to early January. Notable facts: The Soo Locks open March 25 and close January 15. All year navigation has occured before, but not normally done now. Some Canadian boats leave the seaway during winter and trade on the oceans. The Welland Canal closes in late December and opens in early April. Andrew
