I can't seem to find a Grand Rapids, Wisconsin. There is a Grand Rapids, MN.

Found out through the local news paper that the tanks are being built in Grand Rapids Wisconsin, not Mantiowoc like i was told by a crewman....still doesnt make sense to send them this way though

Haha, very true Southsideriverrat! Manitowoc is right on Lake Michigan, why would they sent it to Ashland to be put on a barge and shipped off. Must be more to that story.

Something built in Manitowoc was moved to Ashland for shipping? What am I missing here?

Ok she's not here for scrap. Talked to one of her crewman and she is here to load tanks built in Manitowoc. The should be leaving sometime on Saturday to head for Newfoundland with them. The photo attached I took this evening from my kayak

The pair are currenty docked at the empty Reiss Coal dock. It appears there are parts of the large crane on the east side of the dock, which adds to the stipulation that they are here to removes the chutes from the ore dock. After work I will go out and kayak around them and hopefully get some good shots

Maybe Chris M. could stop past the old docks, schedule permitting, and see what the tugs are up to.
