Don't know what you were smelling. Certainly not from us. No fire on Manitowoc. It is posts like this that get certain authorities into a tizzy. Just coal dust from rinsing deck. The result of the very cold, windy, snowy weather we have been having. Not as bad as it looks.

whom did she offload into or from?

she could be the last boat for the town. that's what we thought when a crewmember on the McKee sons said last saturday when she came in.

That would make sense. Espeically since it looks to me like they covered the portholes and doors before hand.

Looks like coal dust, never seen it like that before though.

I agree. I don't see anything on board melted or burned up. just A lot of black soot or something. Maybe near her was on fire?

Whatever it is/was, I can't imagine that it could have been a pleasant experience to be on board while it was happening. If it is soot, I also can't imagine what it will be like to clean it up.

Nothing appears to be melted and the clean spots around the engine room door and port holes makes it look like soot or dust from something on a dock?

Manitowoc made it's way into Manistee this afternoon after waiting for the wind to subside. Looks like it was running a little hot recently. Any info about this?
