Re: baie-st-paul
Was on board yesterday, it's just one trip from Duluth to Quebec and lay-up in Montreal.

Re: baie-st-paul
Atlantic Superior was just downbound here a few days ago and her AIS read Point Tupper, Nova Scotia. So, it would appear then that she will be trading outside of the Great Lakes this winter.
Re: baie-st-paul
Any word on what Atlantic Superior will do over the winter? I'm assuming back to coastal trades.

Re: baie-st-paul
If she is to be running to Nanticoke, why does her AIS say she is headed for Quebec City and due on the 28th. Looks like she will spend the winter outside the system.

Re: baie-st-paul
My dad overheard the captain telling another ship that they were going to Duluth and then to Quebec city. They would then lay up in Montreal.

The Baie St. Paul will be laying up in Montreal, along with the Atlantic Erie, Birchglen, Mapleglen, Oakglen, Richelieu and Saguenay

Port of Quebec website lists Baie St. Paul as due there on December 27th to unload.

Re: baie-st-paul
In looking through the News Archives and Photos tonight I found out that the CSL Assiniboine had her CSL flag logo painted on her during the Spring of 2010. This happened while she was in the drydock at Port Weller from her grounding in the Seaway back in 2009 late in the season. So, point being is that it was in 2010 that the Assiniboine received the CSL flag logo on her bow like her other CSL fleetmates! Still wonder if and when the Baie St. Paul will get a CSL flag emblem painted on her bow?

Re: baie-st-paul
With all of the recent photos of the "New Baie St. Paul" something caught my eye and attention and I was wondering if anyone else noticed this as well? Look closely at the bow mainly the white part of the ship and you will see something missing. Wonder what it is? It would be that the "CSL" flag logo has not been painted on the bow of the ship yet like her fleetmates have it. However, in 2005 after the CSL Assiniboine was rebuilt, she also did not have the CSL flag logo either on the bow at first. I can't recall what year it was painted on the Assiniboine but, the point is that they did paint the flag logo on her. So, I wonder then if they will paint a CSL flag logo on the bow of the Baie St. Paul eventually? Also, if you go to Duluth Shipping News' website there is a stern photo of her loading at the CN Ore Dock and a darn good one as well!

Re: baie-st-paul
Another thought is that if the Atlantic Erie is to lay-up outside of the Great Lakes region, it has to load and get out of the Seaway by December 29! This means that she has one week to do so and in the case of the Baie St. Paul, they will be laying up this winter inside of the Great Lakes region. So, it would make sense then for the Baie St. Paul to load first ahead of the Atlantic Erie.

One thought would be , the BSP, has three more trips on the books, and AE does not ?

Vessels belonging to the same company will sometimes exchange positions/loading order on orders on front office.

Here is a shot of the Baie St. Paul anchored off Duluth Friday afternoon. The nearer ship is the Atlantic Erie.

Yes, the world didn't end at 5:11 this morning, guess that means I better go out and do some Christmas shopping! I see the Baie St. Paul is abeam of Two Harbors. Last I saw of them, they crossed the lake at Copper Harbor to Isle Royal and were running the north shore at a little under 10 kts. Looks like they have to hit the hook for a while when they get to the end of the lake.

Re: baie-st-paul
Well, at least the world didn't come to end so far yet today from calculations and predictions. I'll bet lots of people including the news media got a "big ole goose egg on their faces for that one!" The good news media as they always gotta have something to talk about I guess and say. At least the Baie St. Paul and others won't have to worry about the world ending for a very long time.
