Hmmm, thats what I thought. Ive never been there so I wasnt real sure. I remember in the late 90s being able to drive right up to the boats in Duluth but I guess september 11th has changed all that. Thanks for the info.

That's all true. There are no real good vantage points in Toledo anymore. You can take a drive up and down Front Street and get glimpses, at least, of anything laid up at the shipyard or the old Interlake Dock just to the north. If you can make your way over to the area of the Coast Guard station on the other side of the river, you can, again, glimpse what's laid up at CSX and Torco. Bring binoculars.

The port area's are secured so you will not be able to gain access to the various docksites. The only vessel that you could see would be the Willis B. Boyer Museum ship however they are closed down for the winter. The Manistee is at Monroe, Michigan which is about 20 miles north of Toledo and you can get some nice pictures of her.

Im going to be in the Toledo area monday and was wondering if its possible to check out some of the freighters laid up there. Would like to get some pictures. Ive looked on google maps but not really sure where to go exactly. Im not sure this is even possible due to security reasons but thought I'd ask. Thanks.
