To start with, you are going to need to get a Merchant Mariner Credential from the US Coast Guard. Go to the following website and download the application from the US Coast Guard National Maritime Center.

After you have that, you should contact Selvick and see if they are hiring. If they are not, you should check the Information Search forum for Timerover51, and you will see that I am attempting to purchase the former US Coast Guard Cutter Bramble for use as a research ship. When and if the purchase goes through, I will be hiring crew for work both on the Lakes and for an expedition to the South Pacific. Crew hiring with be done by the eventual master/captain of the Bramble, but I am open to giving individuals with no prior experience their chance.
