I thought that she was just repainted in 2009 from having a gray hull to a black hull? Also, when she had the gray hull
she really needed a paint job back then as well. I saw her in Port Huron in 2008 in August and at that time, she was gray
and needed a paint job badly.

I've searched on many ship sale websites and I've never found her. I doubt she's really for sale. There is a lot of work to be done on her, so maybe they're just waiting to have a contract for her to be repaired and put back in service, Just a guess. She definitely needs a complete paint job, but she seems to be in good general condition. I doubt she would be going for scrap. Much smaller ships like the Amelia, Melissa and Catherine Desgagnés seems profitable, why the Kathryn couldn't be? Maybe her engine cost too much to operate?

I snapped this picture in Sorel last week. Sorry about the quality, but it was on my cell phone. I don't know what is planned for her.

Kathryn Spirit long term lay-up

Unread post by Captain Aubin »

Hi all !

I saw the McKeil vessel Kathryn Spirit still tied-up in Sorel, QC. Some rumors say she'll be scrapped soon. Some others say she might sail soon and another possibility is she's waiting to be sold to a foreign shipowner. Anyone know something more accurate?

Captain Aubin.
