While growing up, my mother often related to me stories concerning a sailor that lived next door to he in Marine City, Michigan. I know his last name was Chartier, but I don't know his first name, although he was often referred to as "Conk." He was apparently a captain during the 1950s timeframe as my mother was best friends with his daughter while growing up, and they would often go to the river to wave to his ship in the St. Clair River. I know he passed away in the early 1980s, with services taking place at the Holy Cross Church in Marine City. My mother claimed that he had many stories to tell. I was just wondering if someone has any information as to what fleet he worked. Thanks in advance for any information.
