My Mom worked as a RN there after the war (46-51). Met my dad there who came off the boats to have surgery. They married in '50. She told me many military men came back from the war in addition to where the merchant mariner's went for care.

Yes, here's 2 pics from way back when showing the Alter Rd Bridge/Rivderside Dr. You can also see the Windmill lighthouse in the back of the base.Randy S wrote:Are you sure of the location? Alter Road & Riverside Drive are the correct streets. I believe Mariners Park is the site of the old Public Service Hospital. In 1979 I had a Gold Crown #31 molar installed -- happy to say the crown is still in place and holding up well.
