Yes. I think you can still find the rails in some spots. It ran behind the row of shops, between the Dewitt-Seitz Building and Little Angie's restaurant and into the scrapyard. It connected with the old Bridge Yard, which was located on the spot now occupied by I-35.

I remember the spring factory quite well, as I've been coming to the Twin Ports for almost 25 years. Did it move elsewhere, or just go out of business?

I think that was the last vestige of industry in Canal Park. When I moved here in 1982, that area included a car dealership with lake frontage, some sort of government office building with lake front, a junk yard surrounded by a tall green fence, a fishery with a fishy smell strong enough to make you gag when you walked in the door, the spring factory was active -- they'd keep the front doors open to help cool the building. It's much different now.

As noted, a reservoir is being built in that area to hold sewage during heavy rainstorms so it can be treated later rather than released into the lake. Also in that area an old spring factory was just torn down and a microbrewery is going to be built in its place.

I see on the Duluth web cams that Duluth has more construction. No, I am not talking about I-35. It looks like something is being build in Canal Park next to the Canal Park Lodge. Is this another hotel being built? Also, what is in this location before the construction started? Thanks, Justin
