Guest II I totally agree with you as far as the quality of the new versions of the Know Your Ships book. Taking nothing away from the late Tom Manse as he did a superb job with the book in his days but, Roger Le Lievre as since taken over after Tom's passing in 1994 and the book indeed has gotten better with time. As for the older editions of the book, you may or may not know this but you can still get them at a reduced price on the KYS website if you go to it. They have the 1978 and 1979 editions and also from 1982 I think it is all the way up to the present year 2014 editions. Finally, as for the older ships and getting their photos in the book Roger has done an "Historic Photo Gallery and includes photos of some of the ships that have now left us!" Again, he has really done a great job with the book as have all of the KYS book crew.

The most recent KYS I had (until today) was from 1969. My question is: Why didn't I keep on getting them? It sure has changed and the quality of the pictures is fantastic. It's sad that almost all of the boats I knew can't be photographed again for inclusion in the 2015 issue.

Know Your Ships is very well done! I peruse it every day. I got the spiral bound issue this year. It will come in handy on my yearly trip to the Soo this fall!

I agree both Dan and drydock as I received my copy last week in the mail on the First Day of Spring. After receiving it I opened it up and couldn't put it back down as it was so good. I also got a very nice surprise in this year's book. After more than 20 years of photographing ships both on the St. Clair River and at the Soo, my ship has finally come in! I have a picture finally after all these years in the book. If you look at either page 17 or 18, there is a photo of Algoma Equinox on her maiden voyage that I took last year in December. Needless to say it has been a long time coming as far as getting a photo in Roger's Know Your Ships Book. A very hardy 3 Long and 2 Short to Roger and a huge Thank You as well for putting one of my photos in your book. Also 3 Long and 2 Short to rest of the Know Your Ships crew for a job well done on this year's book as it just keeps getting bigger and better with each passing year. Keep up the good work with the book!

I received my copy in the mail the other day and just wanted to send praise to everyone who contributed to this years edition. I truely beleave boatwatchers are some of the best photographers in the world. Each year this book gets better and better. I love all of the photographs of our beloved boats all over the greatlakes and seaway by some top notch people who take them along with all of the information that is provided in this annual book. I also really enjoyed reading the article on Captain Eric Treece the Wilfred Sykes Captain who also storm chases very great artical. To everyone who makes this annual book a big 3 long and 2 short thanks for sharing all the great pictures and information and for makeing this book such a pleasure to read annually and makeing it better and better every year.
