Thanks Paul. As I recall, (last winter) it can be hard on hull structure, too. Following traffic on AIS, I was confused when one ship, west of the Straits, reversed course and headed back down Lake Michigan. Eventually, I learned she got caught in heavy ice and had to have repairs before resuming her trip.

She faced challenges in the lower St. Clair River, but with determination and help from the Coast Guard, Frontenac is on her way from Windsor to Chicago.
