Thanks Tim & Dennis for providing a name for the tug/barge. The big cutter was Griffon but I had to leave while it was still up river and missed photographing it.

It is indeed the Michigan and Great Lakes. I was watching them earlier today very cool sight to see. There was also a bigger cutter out there as well but I didn't catch the name of it.

Bookworm, from the looks of your tug/barge photo I would have to say it appears to be the tug Michigan and barge Great Lakes from what I can see when I enlarge the photo of them. Hope this helps.

With temperatures remaining below freezing for the past week, the ice field has moved further north and this morning saw determined effort to escort two freighters down the St. Clair River.
