The day started with breakfast on Harsen's Island -- my first ever visit to that place of fascinating of Michigan history. Since I wasn't the driver, the stay was much shorter and confined to a smaller area than I preferred, but I can make a future trip on my own.

The former Harsen's Island School is now an eatery, serving scrumptious meals and a variety of beverages.  They also are hosting a music festival tomorrow.

The Harsen's Island Historical Society's home is the former Fire Department building.  The partially visible classic truck (on the far right) served as a rescue vehicle.

Built in 1897, St. Mark's sits on one of the channels and has welcomed many parishioners and visitors who came by boat to the services.
