Michipicoten in today's news. Nothing new to report which leads me to believe there are more structural issues requiring repairs. An aging boat may not merit the cost of repairs and Rand most likely will sideline the Michipicoten until at least the winter. Then we will see if she is done.

It's been a month since the last post. Is the boat all buttoned up for what may be a long term layup ?

There is a brief video on YouTube by Connor Tenold on the boat.

He seems to have some source of information.

Don’t know what’s going on with the michipicoton, she’s still afloat in the drydock at fraser shipyard. She’s been afloat in the drydock for at least 3 weeks now if not longer.if she was done I thought they would pull her out of there and move her into the frog pond till she was ready for the scrap tow.

That video was relying on inaccurate information.

Michipicoten is, indeed, classed by ABS, class number 5200655. Its five-year survey is due 4 February 2025.

That’s a rumor started on Facebook and has already been debunked. Unfortunately the cult is rather large and false rumors there spread quickly.

Well then she is inspected by some classification society if not ABS. Does anyone know? And any vessel sailing to the US is subject to inspection (and possible) rejection by the USCG.

The ship junkies lady is falsely claiming on Facebook that Michipicoten is going for scrap.

Weren't the US Coast Guard and ABS tightening their inspection standards after the El Faro?
